Musée de la Vallée de
la Creuse
Housed since 2000 in the former stables of the medieval castle—of which only a few remains can still be seen—the museum offers a fascinating insight into everyday life in the Creuse Valley from the 18th to the 20th century. In addition to its permanent collection, it regularly hosts cultural and artistic temporary exhibitions.
The permanent exhibition has been enriched over the years through the contributions of local residents and volunteers who collected objects, tools, documents, and memories from families living in the riverside communities of the Creuse Valley, often for several generations. Many of these items are closely connected to the history and heritage of the local area.
The museum presents two temporary exhibitions each year. The current exhibition celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Eguzon Dam, highlighting a century of engineering, local history, and the transformation of the valley.
