In 2025, nearly 4,700 municipalities hold this distinction. The label highlights actions that promote greening, biodiversity, resource preservation, and adaptation to climate change. It is a valuable tool that helps communities strengthen their appeal while enhancing residents’ quality of life.

In 2026, 384 beaches and 100 French marinas earned this prestigious distinction — a sign of strong commitment to water quality, environmental protection, safety, and responsible tourism.

Station verte has been France’s leading nature‑tourism label since 1964. Éguzon earned this distinction in 1977, recognizing the village’s long‑standing commitment to welcoming visitors in a preserved, authentic, and environmentally respectful setting.
For more than 60 years, the French Federation of Station Verte and Snow Villages has supported nearly 500 labelled communes, helping them promote meaningful, human‑scale, nature‑based tourism that respects both residents and their territories.

Éguzon has proudly held the Village Étape label since 1996. Created in 1995, this national distinction encourages motorists to stop in a village rather than at a motorway service area, supporting local businesses while offering travelers a more authentic and welcoming break.
